The M6 Motorway project, formerly known as the F6 Extension, is a proposed initiative aimed at enhancing connectivity to Sydney’s southern regions. It will be implemented in three distinct stages.

The first stage entails the construction of continuous twin tunnels, linking the New M5 at Arncliffe with President Avenue at Kogarah. Key elements of this phase include:

  • North- and south-bound tunnels spanning approximately 4 kilometers each
  • A tunnel portal situated at Brighton-Le-Sands, facilitating access to entry and exit ramps at an expanded President Avenue
  • Provision of stub tunnels for potential connection to a future southern segment of the M6 Extension
  • Upgrading of the President Avenue and Princes Highway intersection
  • Additional infrastructure and operational facilities
  • Integration of pedestrian and cycle pathways.

This project has received approval as state significant infrastructure (SSI) and has been designated as critical state-significant infrastructure.
